Insecurity: Ebonyi govt donates operational vehicles to police, army

The Ebonyi State Government has distributed 10 Hilux to the Nigeria Army and to the Nigeria Police for joint security operations across the state.

Governor Francis Nwifuru, who was represented by his deputy governor, Mrs Patricia Obila, performed the distribution of the vehicles on Thursday in Abakaliki.

According to governor Nwifuru, the aim was to initiatiate accelerate operations of joint security outfits in the state, following the insecurity challenges facing the state.

The joint security outfit was Christened “(Ijeoma), meaning safe journey. Ebonyi State is the only place you sleep with two eyes closed. During the last security meeting, I promised to donate mobility to combat insecurity in the state.

“The resolution to have a joint security task force was to wade off any threat to the peace and security of the state.

“I urge the security agencies to offer their best, security is everybody’s business, government is committed to the peace and security of the state.”

Speaking, the Commander, Nkwagu Military Cantonment, Lt. Col. A A Bako, lauded the state government for the donation.

“The initiative is timely, we promise to give all the services required from us in ensuring peace and security ”

Also Speaking, the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Mrs Augustina Ogbodo, applauded the state government for the gesture.
