Court remands man for allegedly defiling 12-year old girl

A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, remanded a 37-year-old man, Ademola Afeez in a correctional facility for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl.

Afeez whose address was not provided, is being charged with unlawful penetration and defilement.

The Prosecutor, Insp Ayodele Adeosun told the court that the defendant committed the offence at about 9:00a.m on April 19, at Baba-Pupa, Azangbemeh area of Badagry, Lagos.

Adeosun said that Afeez sexually penetrated the vagina of the 12-year-old girl with his fingers without her consent.

He said that the defendant unlawfully took her from the custody of her parents with the intent to have sexual intercourse.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 261 and 170 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya who did not take Afeez’s plea, ordered him to be remanded in a correctional centre.

He adjourned the matter until June 3.
