At matriculation, VC warns students against cultism, drug abuse, others

The Vice-Chancellor, Trinity University (TU), Yaba, Lagos, Prof. Clement Kolawole, has advised new students of the institution to shun cultism, drug abuse and other malpractices that could tarnish the image of the school.

The VC, who advised at the sixth matriculation ceremony of the school, said the institution has zero tolerance for such vices.

Kolawole further warned the students to avoid distractions from social media and manage their time optimally.

The Pro-Chancellor, Samuel Olatunji, reminded that education is pivotal to the development of the society, assuring of the institution’s readiness to play a large role in the nation’s match to greatness.

Former managing director and chief executive officer of Wema Bank, Mr Ademola Adebisi, in his lecture themed: “Empowered living: Unlocking your potential,” charged the new students to always strive for excellence.

Adebisi, enjoined the students to be resilient, acknowledge their strength and constantly strive for excellence, noting that one of the cardinal principles of success was to embrace challenges, remain focused and strive for excellence in any chosen field of life’s endeavour.

“It takes a focused person to adapt to changes, be optimistic, build positive relationships, adopt growth mindset and avoid shortcuts, by way of cheating of any kind. Also use the five W’s and one H, which are the What, Why, When, Who, Where and How framework to deeply examine your goals. I believe these principles will assist you in navigating the next four years on campus and beyond,” Adebise said.
