The chances of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, to be victorious, last weekend, became brighter as various socio-cultural groups of Afemai extraction, including trade unions, threw their support behind him.

The executive and members of the Afemai Youths Movement (AYM), led by Gen. Shaka Musa, AKA Gen. Caesar, and Comrade Amedu Matthew, AKA Am Express, as coordinator and secretary, respectively, inducted the gubernatorial candidate as member, a development that further brighten his winning chances.

The executive and members assured Dr. Asue of their support to enable him win the election, describing him as the most qualified among other candidates.

On his part, the investment banker thanked the executive and members of AYM for the honour done to him, saying it is a rare privilege for him to be inducted into the fame of AYM.

He urged them to remain committed to his project for the purposes of delivering dividends of democracy to their doorsteps.

He said he would not breach the confidence reposed in him if he wins the election and assumes leadership in the state as executive governor, just as he had advised them to work assiduously to protect their votes.

In the same vein, the governorship candidate also paid a solidarity visit to the corporate office of the Association of Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners and Riders, operating in the name of ANNEWATT, Etsako West Local Government Area chapter, and was received by the chairman, Comrade Elamah Jimoh who led thousands of his members to honour him with the pledge to work collectively for his victory in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

He recalled how the association had worked frantically in the past to increase the revenue base of government and contributed to the reduction of crime rates through the mechanism of registering their members on a database, without any blemish, pointing out that they will replicate same with the governorship candidate if he assumed office in November this year.

But acknowledging the dispositions of the executive and members, the gubernatorial candidate and legal luminary, Dr. Asue, thanked them for identifying with him in this critical period of governorship election in the state.

He said that he was in their office to pay a holy Ramadan visit, while urging them to use the holy period to pray fervently to bring peace, unity and love to the state and country.

Dr. Asue assured the members of his government’s desires to fix the economic and insecurity problems which the opposition APC-led Federal Government has subjected the people to, stressing he will build on the legacies of Governor Godwin Obaseki since he has laid good foundation for good governance in the state.

He advised them to adapt to the use of helmets in their daily activities, just as he had made a case for insurance for them, while urging them to remain committed and focused.

Asue also visited the mechanic village and office of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), where he met with leadership of the two bodies.

He emphasised the need to work for his victory to give respite to them in terms of good governance, and assured them of his dispositions to fix the economic and insecurity to attract both local and foreign investment to the state.

He also said that he would focus on infrastructural and human capital development to increase their moral values.

In their separate responses, the leadership of the two bodies, assured the governorship candidate of PDP of their support for him to get to Dennis Osadebey Avenue come November, saying their numerical strength will propel him to victory in the September 21 governorship election in the state.
