524 bidders jostle for NRC’s procurement process

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has recorded 524 bidders for its procurement process for 2024 in three categories. This, the NRC said the programme is significant because it marks the procurement process for the corporation.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has recorded 524 bidders for its procurement process for 2024 in three categories. This, the NRC said the programme is significant because it marks the procurement process for the corporation.

Representative of the Managing Director, NRC, Dr. Monsurat Omotayo, stated this yesterday at the bid opening ceremony in Lagos. She said the programme is very apt and part of the statutory process of the Procurement Act.

Omotayo, who is the Director, Administration and Human Resources, said NRC is committed to a fair and thorough process. She said the programme marks the beginning of the procurement process for the NRC in line with the Procurement Act.

According to her, part of the challenges encountered was the holiday, while the NRC had to put up another advertisement extending the date of procurement processes for the bidders.

Also speaking, Director of Procurement, NRC, Ben Iloanusi, said the submission of bids cut across three sections, namely Goods, Works and Consultancy services.

Iloanusi said the NRC has a lot of projects to be executed this year ranging from construction to rolling stock consumables, rehabilitation of locomotives, coaches, and wagons among others.

He said NRC has over 500 number of projects. The budget for the NRC for this year is about N11 billion, stating that the corporation will look out for projects that are peculiar to them to execute within the budget.
