SaharaReporters reliably gathered that the cult members reportedly loyal to a factional president of the association, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, ambushed members of the Obi-led faction at Zone 8, Wuse Abuja and butchered them.

Some cult members attacked and wounded leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students loyal to the association's factional President, Comrade Pedro Chibuzo Obi after their inauguration in Abuja on Monday.

SaharaReporters reliably gathered that the cult members reportedly loyal to a factional president of the association, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, ambushed members of the Obi-led faction at Zone 8, Wuse Abuja and butchered them.

According to eyewitnesses, one of the staunch supporters of Obi who was brutally butchered was identified as Jeje from Kwara State.

One of the eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters on Tuesday that doctors were battling to save Jeje’s life in a hospital in Abuja.

"Yes, I got information that there was an election that produced two factions. One of the factions, led by Pedro Obi, held an inauguration yesterday in Abuja," a source told SaharaReporters.

"Unfortunately, one of his think tank leaders, Jeje, was ambushed and butchered. Jeje is now in one of Abuja's hospitals."

The source said some others were also stabbed.

Videos seen by SaharaReporters show some of the cult members hitting one of their victims with a machete in broad daylight in an environment that looked like hotel premises.

Another video shows how a vehicle branded the National Association of Nigerian Students ‘Presidency’; Office of the President had been smashed.

The picture of Comrade Pedro Chibuzo Obi is on the vehicle. The vehicle’s windshields and windows had been smashed.

One Ibraheem Abdullateef who also shared the video of the attack in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, decried the violence and called on the Nigeria Police Force to invite the two factions for questioning before the situation would get out of control.

Abdullateef, who tagged the Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, asked if the police spokesman was aware of the attack on the factional leaders of the NANS.

He wrote: "Are you aware of the attacks and counter - attacks factional NANS leaders have been launching against one another in Abuja?

"A young man from Kwara was caught in the latest at Zone 8 and was butchered to near death in broad daylight. It is CRAZY.

"The Force should invite the leadership for questioning before we have a further breach of law and order and a possible loss of life.

"This is criminality on the lose.

"Thank you, sir."

When SaharaReporters contacted the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, regarding the incident, she said she was not aware of it.

She simply said in a text message: "I have not seen any such reports let me call and confirm."
