Laleye Dipo in Minna
Gunmen have kidnapped the Assistant Controller of Corrections of the Niger State Correctional Centre, Abdulrahamam Ibrahim Gelele.
It was learnt that the ACC was kidnaped since the 17th of April 2024.
According to sources close to the Centre, the officer was abducted along Ilorin – Minna road.
The incident has been shrouded in secrecy with the belief that he will regain his freedom soon but after over a week, it has become the talk in the headquarters of the Centre.
It was said that the kidnappers made contact with family of the victim once and had since then cut off all communication with either his office or the family.
A statement apparently confirming the incident quotes the Controller of Corrections, Nigerian correctional service, Niger State, Mohammed Hamisu Isa, saying,”on behalf of the officers and men of the command solicit your prayers for his safe release and freedom from the captives please”
