NOUN to host 75th workshop, meeting of Nigerian varsity registrars

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has been confirmed as the host for the second University Registrar’s workshop and 75th business meeting. The event, organized in collaboration with the Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities (ARNU), is set to take place from Monday, April 22nd to Friday, April 26th, 2024.

In a statement, Mr Oladipo Ajayi, the Registrar of NOUN, expressed his excitement about the upcoming event. He highlighted that the workshop will bring together Registrars from federal, state, and private universities across the country. The theme of the event is “Sustainable Legal Framework as Panacea for Industrial Harmony in the Nigerian University System: Challenges and Remedies.”

The workshop is expected to attract various stakeholders and distinguished personalities from the academic community. Delivering the keynote address will be Prof. Dakas CJ Dakas, a former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Plateau State.

A lineup of esteemed speakers and resource persons has been assembled for the event. Among them are Ekpo Nta, Esq, the Chairman/CEO of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission; Prof. Chiedu Mafiana, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, of NOUN; Mrs. Helen Nguper Nyitse, former Registrar of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi; and Prof. Andrew Ezadueyan Zamani, Director of the Institute of Governance and Development Studies at Nasarawa State University (NSUK), Keffi.

Malam Ibrahim Sheme, the Director of Media and Publicity at NOUN, emphasised the significance of ARNU as a platform for Registrars from all universities in Nigeria. He explained that the association serves as a vital forum for interaction and the exchange of ideas on evolving university administrative management and practices. ARNU’s mission is to promote and sustain sound, ethical, and best practices in the day-to-day administration of Nigerian universities. It also aims to contribute to the development and growth of higher education in Nigeria while fostering healthy relationships between registrars and vice-chancellors of Nigerian universities.
