In his commitment to cushioning the adverse effects of economic challenges and the high cost of living in the country, the Ovia South-West Council Chairman, Hon. Engr. Edosa Enomwoghomwenma has launched the Market Women Monetary Support Scheme ‘Igho’Eki Oduwa” for Ovia South-West market women.

On Friday, the Ovia South-West Council boss unveiled the economic support plan for the indigenes at the Iguobazuwa main market in a ceremony that witnessed the attendance of key stakeholders from across the political wards in the Local Government Area (LGA).

Addressing the market women, the Ovia South-West Local Government Area Chairman affirmed that the initiative marks the beginning of good things that the women will enjoy in his administration. He maintained that with the untiring commitment of his administration, market women will be empowered to engage in businesses that will help them self-sustaining.

The council boss promised that all the markets and streets within Ovia South-West LGA will be visited, to ensure equitable distribution of the palliative packages.

“The launch of “Igho’Eki Oduwa” is not merely an event but a demonstration of our commitment to foster unity, compassion, and forward-thinking leadership. As the scheme takes root, it is designed to herald a future where opportunity flourishes, and where the aspirations of every trader find fertile ground for business and economic boom,” Enomwoghomwenma emphasised.

In appreciation of the Hon. Edosa Enowoghomwenma’s kind gesture, the traders in attendance led by Madam Bose Ojo (Iyeki of Iguobazuwa Market) expressed gratitude to the chairman for the support.

The Iyeki of Iguobazuwa stated that Ovia South-West women will continue to support the administration of Engr. Edosa Enomwoghomwenma with all sense of commitment and vigor, urging him not to relent in the fulfillment of his campaign promises.

In her words, “Ovia is blessed to have a son that recognizes the position of women in the scheme of things.

She also seized the opportunity to thank the Chairman on his commitment to cleaning the market environment, having evacuated the huge refuse dumps in the market upon assumption of office.”

According to Madam Bose Ojo, “This gesture of the chairman will never be taken for granted and collectively we all will continue to support this administration without fail.

On the entourage of the chairman at the ceremony were the Vice Chairman of Ovia South-West LGA, Hon. Blessing Hosannah Perewari, the Secretary to Local Government, Hon. Thompson Iyase, among others.
