Afrobeats superstar Davido has partnered with United Masters to launch his label Nine+ Records.
Davido aims to nurture new talent and explore diverse musical genres beyond Afrobeats, including hip-hop, R&B, Latin, and more.
He is partnering with Veteran American record executive, Steve Stoute, who is the founder of United Records.
Speaking about his partnership with United Records, Davido expresses his passion for nurturing new talent.
The musician hopes to build a global empire, drawing on his unique experiences in Nigeria and Atlanta.
“My job is obviously to bring the creatives and deliver, but I do need Steves vision on how Im going to advise on these new artists,” he said.
Stoute envisions Nine+ Records as a powerhouse reminiscent of iconic labels like Bad Boy and Death Row.
He also shared his delight about working with the Afrobeat star.
I think the music that Davido has been able to make, produce and share with the world has been amazing,” Stoute said.
For me, I think his connection between Nigeria and Atlanta, and everything hes gone through has brought unique experiences that I can hear and feel through his lyrics and production.
“I didnt even know that [at the time], I just knew there was something different about his sound and the way he structured his songs.
With plans to expand beyond Africa, Nine+ Records, aims to reach out to talents across the world.
To achieve this, Davido emphasizes the importance of having a strong team, hence his partnership with Steve Stoute.
“First of all, you gotta have a good team. Theres one thing I learned from Steve: I didnt know you had to get all of this to get a label because where Im from and where you record, theres no office,” Davido said.
