Troops of the Nigerian Army stationed in Taraba and Benue states have dealt significant blows to terrorist activities, by arresting a gun-runner, killing a terrorist and preventing kidnapping attempts.

Disclosing this yesterday in the Army X-tweeter, the troops, according to the force, worked closely with local vigilantes to achieve the feat.

It also stated that the troops acted swiftly on actionable intelligence to apprehend a gun-runner, Mansir Mohammed at the Jalingo Motor Park.

According to the tweet, Mohammed was allegedly involved in gun-running activities with terrorists.

His capture led to the apprehension of additional members of his network and the seizure of firearms, including a Semi Automatic Pump Action gun and a locally fabricated gun, along with other items such as a vehicle and mobile phones, the Army stated.

In a separate operation, the troops, as stated in the twitter account, conducting routine patrols in Miyande Village, Takum Local Council of Taraba State, intercepted two terrorist suspects transporting an Automatic rifle concealed under a motorcycle seat.

The vigilant troops, they said, seized an AK-47 Rifle, ammunition and the motorcycle.

Additionally, troops swiftly responded to a distress call in Zaki-Biam Town, Benue State, thwarting a kidnapping attempt.

During the operation, one kidnapper was neutralised in a shootout, and a Beretta Pistol with ammunition was recovered.

These successful operations, they said, highlighted the Nigerian Armys steadfast commitment to combating terrorism and insurgency, ensuring the security of the nation.
