Ademola Lookman has looked back on his standout performance for Nigeria during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Lookman emerged as one of Nigerias standout players at the tournament, ending as joint-top scorer alongside William Troost-Ekong.
The 26-year-old played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s Round of 16 triumph over perennial rivals Cameroon, scoring two goals to propel the Super Eagles into the quarter-finals.
My favourite goal was the second goal against Cameroon, it gave me goose bumps, my parents were watching on, Lookman said in an interview with Calister Enejele.
Lookman further elaborated on his emotions about being Nigerias joint-top scorer in his debut AFCON tournament.
Very happy, obviously as an attacking player, we always want to help the team by doing that and the team was amazing, everyone helped out, he said.
It was amazing, first tournament with the team, it was something I really, really enjoyed, he added.
