The leader of Anioma Security Net Watch, Mr James Peter (a.k.a) Synergy has been reportedly killed by operatives of Delta State Vigilante operating within Owaeke, Emuhu and adjoining communities in Ika South Local Council of Delta State.

The Guardian gathered that the late James Peter was shot dead along with two other herdsmen while two others with serious gun injuries are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed Hospital.

According to sources, they were killed on April 11, at the camp of the herdsmen when the vigilantes were in search of those allegedly kidnapped the previous days.

The sources further hinted that the vigilantes invaded the camp following the incessant kidnappings and subsequent killing of persons by the suspected herdsmen operating in the areas.

According to the sources, the vigilante operatives fiercely dealt with the suspects, who quickly called Mr James Peter, to inform him that they were being harassed.

But when the deceased reported at the camp table turned against him as the herdsmen confessed that they had been giving him money.

Following this confession, a fight ensued between the late Peter and other vigilante members, which led to the killing of the three persons.

Meanwhile, a member of Delta State Livestock Committee, representing Delta North, Mr Ujene Matthew Ossai, has condemned the killings and advised security operatives to operate within the ambit of the law.

Confirming the development, spokesperson for Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe said no arrest has been made yet.

But we are seriously going after those who are behind the killings, he added.
