A 24-year-old student, identified as Ayobami Analowo has been sentenced to six months imprisonment for stealing a gas cylinder by a Jos Magistrates Court.
The Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on March 2 at the A Police Station Jos by a complainant, Abraham Godwin.
Inspector Ibrahim noted that the convict trespassed into the complainants house and stole the gas cylinder.
He added that the gas cylinder was found in his possession, during a police investigation.
The offence, according to him, is punishable under the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
However, Justice Shawomi Bokkos who sentenced Analowo after he pleaded guilty, gave the convict an option to pay N20,000.
The judge asserted that the punishment would serve as a deterrent to other intending offenders.
