Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has directed the immediate release of counterpart funds aimed at improving nutritional status of children across the state.

This is as he assured that his administration would continue to prioritise the welfare and well-being of children and women, as well as effective and efficient maternal healthcare delivery services.

Mohammed gave the directive when he received a delegation from the United Nations Children’s’ Fund, UNICEF, led by the Chief of Bauchi Field Office, Dr Tushar Rane, who paid him a courtesy call at the Government House.

The Governor expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s initiatives in the state and pledged support for their programs.

He then mandated relevant agencies to expedite the release of state counterpart funds for UNICEF interventions.

The governor also directed health agencies to ensure effective implementation of healthcare programs, including improving immunization coverage and enhancing the educational sector.

Earlier, the Chief of UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Tushar Rane, stated that the collaborative efforts between the European Union and the UNICEF (EU-UNICEF) was to support the Bauchi State government with funds that would enable it to implement the Maternal, Child Health, Education, and Nutrition (MNCHN) Project in the state, for improved family health and foster childrens educational growth.
