An independent medical doctor on Thursday examined Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB).

Kanus lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, said the doctor was competent and was personally chosen by the IPOB leader.

Ejimakor disclosed this after leading the legal team on a routine meeting with Kanu at the facility of the Department of State Services, (DSS).

Posting on X, Ejimakor wrote: The jinx is finally broken. Today, a very competent doctor, personally chosen by Onyendu #MNK, met & examined him.

It wasnt easy, counting from last year when this shouldve happened. The indomitable #MnkLegalTeam also met with MNK today. Its tough but we must not relent.

In the past, Ejimakor had accused DSS operatives of refusing to allow Kanu access to an independent medical practitioner.

During his last court outing, the IPOB leader said he is suffering from congestive cancer, adding that the DSS are not taking his health condition seriously.

Kanu said: The Court is entitled to change its mind. They will change their mind. My right must be respected. My right to fair hearing must be respected.

I have congestive heart failure. Basically they want to keep me alive so that when they calculate that Im about to give up, that my heart is about to pack up, theyll now say go.
