A Los Angeles mother and her daughter were sentenced to four years in prison each on Thursday April 18, for involuntary manslaughter of an aspiring adult film star on whom they performed an illegal butt lift operation.

Identified as Libby Adame, 53, and Alicia Galaz, 26, they appeared at the Los Angeles Superior Court where they were sentenced in connection with the death of Karissa Rajpaul, a 26-year-old South African actress.

Rajpaul, an aspiring adult film star, died at a hospital hours after Adame and Galaz injected her butt with liquid silicone at a home in Los Angeles in 2019

Before their arrest in 2021, they had operated a business offering plastic surgeries on women for cash at cut-price rates in patients’ homes despite not having any official trainings nor possessing license to operate.

As reported by NBC4, Rajpaul, was charged $3,500 to $4,000 for her operation by Adame and Galaz, whereas a board-certified butt lift normally runs anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000.

According to The New York Post, during the third procedure, Rajpaul immediately became ill and lost consciousness, as the liquid chemical entered her bloodstream and caused an embolism. The exact cause of the death of the aspiring aldult film star was later determined to be acute cardiopulmonary dysfunction and intramuscular/intravascular silicone injectionS.

Silincone injections are not approved for use in aesthetic procedures in the US and the Food and Drug Administration has warned against them since 2017.

They were ashen-faced as they were handcuffed by the deputies and led off to be incarcerated.
