Distinguished banker and Chairman of Zenith Bank PLC, Jim Ovia, has been appointed as Chairman of the board of the Nigeria Educational Loan Fund (NELFUND).

The appointment, made by President Bola Tinubu, was officially disclosed Friday in a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

The statement said President Tinubu emphasized the crucial role that NELFUND plays in facilitating access to education for deserving students across the country, reiterating his administration’s commitment to transforming the educational sector and ensuring that no Nigerian is denied the application to pursue higher learning due to financial constraint.

Ovias appointment is said to signify a strategic step towards enhancing access to quality education and empowering Nigerian students with the financial resources needed to pursue their academic aspirations.

With his extensive experience and exemplary leadership in the banking sector, Mr Ovia is poised to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to NELFUND.

Ovia, the visionary behind the success of Zenith Bank Group, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Chairman of NELFUND. He pledged to harness his expertise and resources towards advancing the organization’s mandate of providing affordable and accessible loan facilities to Nigerian students.
