Operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps have arrested an ex-convict, 30-year-old Yekini Sulikaleni and Toheeb Yekini, aged 35 for burglary.

According to the Corps Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi on Wednesday, the duo were arrested on Tuesday at the Oje Oniyan area in Iwo local government area of the state.

Adewinbi said they were arrested after the Amotekun Command in the town received a distress call around 11:30 am on their activities in the area.

He said the Amotekun operatives who swung into action immediately, apprehended the suspects on the spot.

According to Adewinmbi, “The suspects confessed to committing the crime and pleaded for mercy.

“The suspects admitted to committing the crime and this is not the first time committing the same act, as one of the culprits, Yekini Sulikaleni was an ex-convict jailed for the same act in the past.”

Adewinmbi advised inhabitants to assist security agencies with reasonable intelligence information to tackle any potential security threat in the state.

The suspects have been handed over to the Department of State Services, DSS, for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
