Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho faces uncertainty regarding his future as his contract nears its end, with reports suggesting that the club may not extend his contract beyond this season.

The Nigerian attacker joined Leicester City from Manchester City in 2017. However, with his contract approaching its expiration, speculation has arisen regarding his next move.

Enzo Maresca, Leicester City’s manager, addressed the contract situations of key players like Wilfred Ndidi and Iheanacho, indicating that the club’s focus is on achieving its goals for the current season before making any decisions on contract renewals.

Maresca stated that after the season, they will evaluate whether players and the club are happy to continue together, which will determine the future of players like Iheanacho.

Despite a strong start to his career, Iheanacho’s recent performances have been less consistent, leading to reduced playing time.

With Leicester City fighting for a return to the Premier League, the club may consider reshaping its squad, potentially excluding Iheanacho from future plans. This uncertainty has led to interest from various clubs, particularly in Turkey, with Trabzonspor, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Besiktas expressing interest in the Nigerian forward.

Transfer insider Dean Jones mentioned that a move to Turkey might be the most likely option for Iheanacho. This could see him joining Trabzonspor or other Turkish clubs, potentially partnering with other Nigerian players such as Paul Onuachu.

Despite interest from Crystal Palace, Jones noted that competing with established players like Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise could be challenging for Iheanacho.

While a move to Turkey could offer a fresh start, adapting to a new environment might pose challenges, especially for an English-speaking player like Iheanacho.

Ultimately, the final decision may depend on Leicester City’s success in gaining promotion and Iheanacho’s desire to continue his career in England or explore opportunities in other leagues.
