A procurement advocacy group, Procure Watch Nigeria, committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, for alleged violations of the Freedom of Information Act 2011.

According to Barrister Salami, the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, has purportedly failed to comply with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2011 by withholding crucial information related to its procurement processes.
This lack of transparency not only undermines the principles of good governance but also raises serious concerns about the integrity of public spending.
"Access to information is a fundamental right enshrined in the Freedom of Information Act 2011," stated Barrister Salami.
"By refusing to disclose essential procurement information, the Federal Polytechnic Offa is depriving the public of their right to scrutinise and hold accountable the use of public funds."
The lawsuit seeks to compel the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, to disclose the procurement processes in accordance with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2011.
It represents a crucial step towards promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in public institutions across Nigeria.
NGOs, civil society organisations, and concerned citizens have rallied behind (Procure Watch) in support of this legal action, emphasising the importance of transparency in combating corruption and ensuring the effective utilisation of public resources.
