FG tasks new FCT commissioners on rebranding public service

The Federal Government has called on the newly appointed Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Civil Service Commissioners to bring to bear innovations that would uplift service delivery in the nation’s capital.

Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Prof. Tunji Olaopa, made the call while hosting the new commissioners led by the FCT Civil Service Chairman, Emeka Ezeh.

Pledging unalloyed support to the newly set up FCT civil service, he said: “I will support the FCSC towards the proper establishment of the FCT Service Commission and its institutionalisation, as a new frontier for Nigeria to harness, and as a clear opportunity to break new grounds in human resource professionalism in the public administration profession in Nigeria.

“Permit me to pay my sincere respect to the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, for making history by establishing the foundation for public administration practice in the FCT as a mini-state.” 

“Whatever is the merit or demerit of that bold decision, our training as bureaucrats is that when the government, in its wisdom, takes such far-reaching political decision of a paradigm-shifting nature, as the one elevating FCT into a mini-state in public administration sense, our duty is to mobilise maximum support, not just to ensure the utmost success of the experiment, but to accord such initiative desirable compliments so that the prime objective of the government is achieved to the fullest.”
