Edo State Commissioner for Social Development and Gender Issues, Hon. Christabel Omoh Ekwu has charged chairpersons across the state on the need to be dutiful in their localities.

The commissioner made this remark at the Ministry’s premises while playing host to the chairpersons (wives of Local Government Areas’ Chairmen) who were on a courtesy visit to the Ministry in Benin City.

Hon. Ekwu further encouraged them to always key into any initiatives that will bring development and growth in their various local government areas, stressing the need to improve on capacity building and empowerment programmes in the state.

The commissioner further asserted that being a leader is a call to service, hence every leader should be ready to serve in their various capacities.

“Leaders must always be on ground to help the people when they are in need; a leader should know the needs of his subjects, and a leader must not be sentimental,” Hon. Ekwu noted.
