The member representing Oredo federal constituency, Hon. Esosa Iyawe, today doled out foods items to members of his constituency to cushion the effects of the current prevailing economic hardship in the country.

The distribution exercise which took place at his constituency office in Benin, saw over 2500 beneficiaries in attendance.

Addressing Journalists in Benin, during the distribution exercise, Iyawe said that the project christened “Hon. Esosa Iyawe Food Bank” is just beginning and that he hopes to sustain it throughout his tenure in office

Iyawe said that the Food Bank Initiative programme can only be stopped if the economic situation of the country gets better.

He said what the citizens of the country need at the moment is a helping hand adding that other lawmakers in the 36 states and the federation can emulate what he is doing as that is the only way to reduce the economic hardship on the masses.

The lawmaker who said the project is not a federal government project but his personal project, said his desire is to put smiles on the faces of people that is why the distributions of the food items cuts across the political party divides.

Speaking also on the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata, he said that he is the youngest among all contestants from other political parties.

He said the governorship candidate of the party while he was the president of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), he ran an open door policy noting that he still has the ability to replicate same if he eventually becomes the governor of the state.

He added that he is full support of the candidacy of Olumide Akpata and that he is ready to deliver him for Peter Obi because if Labour Party wins Edo State, it is a plus for Obi and for the party.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Philo Osayomwanre, thanked the donor for his kind gesture.

She said remembering them at this difficult times is what they can never forget just as she prayed that God should continue to bless him in all ramifications.
