UCL: PSG have to thank Araujo – Rio Ferdinand reflects on Barcelona’s exit

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has claimed Ronald Araujo’s sending off changed the course of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Barcelona.

Araujo saw red for a last-man tackle against Bradley Barcola after Barca had taken a 1-0 lead thanks to Raphinha.

PSG then equalized through Ousmane Dembele, before Vitinha and Kylian Mbappe (brace) put the game beyond the LaLiga giants.

“I think PSG have to thank Araujo for that red card. It changed the game.

“I think at that point Barcelona looked the most complete and the most confident of the two teams.

“PSG then looked like a team that were really in control and the confidence went through the roof.

“Barcelona played their part in a brilliant two-legged tie,” Ferdinand said on TNT Sports.
