The police in Lagos State have arrested one Emmanuel Okpara for allegedly battering his 40-year-old woman, Patience Johnson to death in the Agege Area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that Okpara was cohabiting with the late Patience.

According to police source, the son of the deceased named Destiny has on March 26, at about 2:10.p.m., reported at Elere Police Division that on March 25, he received a phone call that Okpara, who is his mother’s supposed partner beat her, leading to bodily injury and vomiting of blood.

It was gathered that Destiny rushed down to her residence in the early morning of March 26, but did not meet Mr. Okpara at home.

He, subsequently, rushed his mother to Orile Agege General Hospital where she was admitted for medical treatment.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson for Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspect has been arrested and detained.

“Unfortunately, yesterday, March 28, 2024 at about 7:50.p.m, when Elere Divisional Police Officer (DPO) visited the hospital to check on the victim, the doctor on duty informed him that the woman gave up the ghost at about 6:00a.m.

“Deceased corpse will be evacuated to Mainland General Hospital mortuary Yaba for autopsy while investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin said.
