The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has warned newly-registered companies against paying certain fees to obtain tax identification number (TIN) amongst others.
The management of CAC gave this warning in a statement on its X handle on Friday.
CAC said it noticed email messages sent to directors of newly-registered companies.

“The Commission wishes to clearly state that such messages are not from us,” CAC said on X.
“TIN is free and automatically generated from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) upon incorporation, as the agencies have fully integrated the service.”
CAC added that FIRS’ TIN is electronically generated and endorsed instantly on the certificates of relevant business entities.

It said this is done upon registration with the Commissions Company Registration Portal (CRP) at no cost.
CAC further said that all its services and fees are published on the commissions website at www.cac.gov.ng.
“Any notice, information, or update issued to the general public on the operations of the Commission are equally published on the website,” it added.
The commission also reassured the general public of its commitment to providing registration and regulatory services adequate to the expectations of its esteemed customers.
