PSV Eindhoven clinched their 25th Dutch championship title on Sunday, marking their first triumph since 2018, in a season overshadowed by Ajax’s unexpected struggles.

Under Peter Bosz’s leadership, PSV secured the Eredivisie trophy with two matches remaining, sealing the victory with a 4-2 triumph over Sparta Rotterdam amid a celebratory atmosphere at the sunlit Philips Stadion.

With their win, PSV ensured that second-placed Feyenoord couldn’t catch up, prompting jubilant celebrations in front of their passionate supporters.

The season was a memorable one for PSV, a club with a storied history that has seen iconic players like Romario, Ronaldo, Mark van Bommel, and Arjen Robben don their jersey. They embarked on an impressive 17-game unbeaten run in the Eredivisie before suffering their first loss to NEC Nijmegen.

Key victories, including a 5-2 triumph over Ajax and a crucial 2-1 win at Feyenoord’s De Kuip Stadium, propelled PSV towards the title.

The standout performer for PSV this season was veteran Dutch striker Luuk de Jong, whose 27 goals made him the joint top scorer in the League.

While PSV’s current squad has yet to match the achievements of the legendary 1987/88 team led by Guus Hiddink, who clinched the European Cup, winning the Eredivisie title brings solace after three consecutive seasons of finishing as runners-up to Ajax or Feyenoord.

Additionally, PSV enjoyed success in Europe, finishing second in their Champions League group, which included Arsenal, Sevilla, and Lens, before bowing out to Borussia Dortmund in the last 16.
