Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the Flavours of Nigeria Food Festival on August 10th in Brampton, Canada, an event that celebrated Nigeria’s rich culinary heritage.

Organised by IIASDG Africa and Glogold Consulting Ltd Canada, the Flavours of Nigeria Food Festival was part of the Crossroads of Culture Festival and featured an array of traditional Nigerian dishes such as amala and ewedu, jollof rice, and pepper soup, among others.

The vibrant atmosphere was further enhanced by cultural performances from dancers and musicians, offering attendees an immersive experience of Nigeria’s diverse culture.

The highlight of the event was the arrival of Prime Minister Trudeau, who was warmly welcomed by the organisers, Chuks Anyaduba and Akin Oduntan, as well as a distinguished group of guests, including Members of Parliament Arielle Kayabaga (London West) and Shafqat Ali (Brampton Centre), Minister of Diversity, Inclusion, and Persons with Disabilities Kamal Khera, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, Nollywood actors Uzee Usman and Titi Kuti, celebrity journalist Adeniyi Ifetayo, and Ambassador Martins Acha.

The Prime Minister took time to engage with each food vendor, expressing genuine interest in and appreciation for Nigerian cuisine.

A special moment during the festival was the presentation of the Award for Excellence in Cultural Preservation to His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri. The award, presented by Chuks Anyaduba, was received on behalf of the Olu by Adeniyi Ifetayo.
