The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has taken a significant step towards enhancing aviation safety across Africa by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU). This partnership aims to foster cooperation on training initiatives within the aviation sector.
The MoU signifies a commitment from both NSIB and AAAU to work together in developing and delivering high-quality training programmes tailored to the needs of aviation professionals in Africa. By leveraging their respective expertise and resources, the two organizations seek to address critical areas such as accident investigation
Bimbo Oladeji, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NSIB, emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AAAU signifies more than just collaboration on training initiatives. She stated that the partnership is poised to significantly contribute to the prevention and mitigation of accidents and incidents within Nigeria’s transport sector.
Bimbo Oladeji highlighted NSIB’s commitment to supporting AAAU by granting access to its facilities, thereby facilitating an efficient exchange of resources and expertise. This collaboration underscores NSIB’s dedication to advancing aviation safety not only within Nigeria but across Africa as a whole. By leveraging shared resources and knowledge, NSIB and AAAU aim to enhance training initiatives and bolster safety measures, ultimately contributing to the overall improvement of aviation safety standards in the region.
She said: I am confident that this MoU will enhance the effectiveness of our collaboration and commitment to promoting safer skies and operational excellence in the aviation industry in Nigeria and beyond
Engr. Masud Yerima, Director of Physical Planning and Works at AAAU, expressed gratitude for NSIB’s unwavering support and partnership since the inception of the university. He emphasized the invaluable contributions of NSIB in facilitating the growth and development of AAAU, particularly in the realm of aviation safety.
The journey of AAAUs establishment and progress would have faced considerable challenges without NSIBs generous support, he said.
Engr. Masud Yerima further commended Badeh for his exemplary leadership and steadfast dedication in propelling NSIB to greater heights. This recognition highlights the instrumental role of Badeh in driving NSIB’s mission and vision forward, fostering collaboration, and achieving tangible results in enhancing aviation safety.
Addressing two critical needs within the continents industry, AAAU tackles the research and development gap in Africas aviation and aerospace sector while simultaneously cultivating a skilled workforce to propel it forward.
