Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen has reportedly informed the club of his intentions to join Borussia Dortmund on a permanent deal this summer.
The 19-year-old left-back joined Dortmund on loan in the January transfer window and has since been a significant player for the German side.
Maatsen grabbed his first-ever Champions League goal this week against Atletico Madrid as Dortmund progressed to the semi-finals, with Chelsea supporters urging the club to hold on to him.
The youngster initially sought to become a regular player at Chelsea before his loan move, but things have changed, and Maatsen now desires to sign for Dortmund permanently, as reported by Metro UK.
The Dutchman is ‘very comfortable’ at his loan club.
Maatsen has a release clause valued at €35-40m.
Before his loan spell at Dortmund, Maatsen spent last season on loan at Burnley.
