Action Alliance expels Omoaje, 22 others over anti-party activities

The opposition Action Alliance (AA) political party has expelled Mr. Adekunle Rufai Omoaje and 22 other members over alleged misconduct and anti-party activities.

The decision to apply the sledgehammer on them followed the adoption of a motion moved by Mr. Ogunmodede Adeloye at the 5th national convention of the party held Saturday in Abuja.

Omoaje, Awofala Awolola Awoniyi, Orgwu Miller, Adewole Joshua, Comrade Olu Omotosho, and 18 others were found wanting of alleged committal of misconduct and anti-party activities that were capable of threatening the survival of the party.

“I have considered the gravity of the allegations and the report. In order to protect the values and visions of our great party, I hereby move motion for the expulsion of the following persons from the Action Alliance,” Adeloye noted while moving the motion roundly endorsed by delegates at the convention.

The party amended Article 33 (a) of its institution to extend the tenure of its National Chairman, Chief Kenneth Udeze, and other national officers by two years.

The extension, according to the party, was to cover the period the party was facing an internal crisis and legal battle.

The motion to extend the tenure of Udeze and other national officers was moved by Calistus Andem, a delegate from Akwa Ibom which was supported by all the delegates, at the Convention monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
