Guardian NG  05:25 PM

The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into an alleged case of torture involving a secondary school student at Aliyu Mustafa Academy, Jimeta-Yola.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement, said the victim, Jaafar Bashiri Tofa, a Senior Secondary 1 (SS1) student, was reportedly subjected to severe beating by his teacher, whose identity has been withheld. The student is currently receiving medical treatment.

Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris condemned the act and ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigations to take over the case for a thorough probe.

The police chief called for calm and urged teachers to exercise restraint in dealing with students. He assured the public that justice would be served.

Meanwhile, the police command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that cases of abuse, particularly in educational institutions, are handled with the seriousness they deserve.
