The Nigerian Senate has confirmed all the seven nominees whose names were forwarded by President Bola Tinubu after reshuffling the cabinet last week.

The confirmation followed Tinubu’s request to the upper legislative chamber, which was presented by the Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, on Wednesday.

Bamidele, in his presentation, reminded senators that the nominees were earlier scheduled for screening on Tuesday, but the exercise was postponed.

He thereafter sought the leave of the Chamber for nominees to be screened.

That the Senate do consider the request of Mr. President , Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the confirmation of the following nominees for appointment as ministers of Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in accordance with Section 147 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended,” he prayed.

Immediately the senators dissolved into the Committee of the Whole with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio presiding.

After questions and answers were taken from the minister-designates, all of them were confirmed ministers in an exercise that lasted for five hours.

The new ministers are Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Dr Jumoke Oduwole and Suwaiba Said Ahmed Ahmad.

In his remarks, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio prayed that God will give the ministers the enablement to discharge their duties to the benefit of Nigerians.
