A young girl became trapped underneath rubble when a shopping centre collapsed in Peru, killing at least four and injuring dozens.
The brave girl captured the terror underneath tonnes of rubble that fell on unassuming families enjoying their Friday at the Real Plaza shopping centre in Trujillo when its roof collapsed.
Four people have now been confirmed dead and 79 others injured after the incident at about 8.40pm yesterday. Rescuers are trying to reach survivors trapped in a heap of bent metal and heavy rubble.
One of the trapped people was a young girl, whose identity is not yet known.
She can be heard saying with a trembling voice its not a shooting, Im trapped, with commotion on the background and her face barely visible in the dark in the haunting clip.
Despite her ordeal, she managed to stay calm and her video clip quickly spread online.
It is not known who she was with at the Real Plaza and what happened to them.
Desperate families are also continuing to search their loved ones who are still inside and at hospitals after the collapse which caught children at an indoor playground.
TikTokker José Pastor posted a scathing video to his almost one million followers after finding out his mother was trapped inside the Real Plaza.
He said he managed to rescue her, but criticised the alleged lack of maintenance and negligence at the centre.
Other footage appears to show rescuer workers scouring the play area with torches, with toys seen scattered on the floor.
Yuri Carvajal was searching for her cousin, Harumi Carbajal Velázquez, 25, and her boyfriend.
We havent had any information about her. They told us that her cell phone is dead, but we dont know if its true. Thats all weve received, she told Infobae.
Harumi was later confirmed dead.
The rescue efforts have reportedly been hampered by a lack of resources.
More than 300 shoppers were inside the centre when the roof suddenly came down and fear for the survivors is growing the longer it takes to pull them out.

While the exact reason for the collapse is under investigation, some have speculated it could have crashed down due to water overload following heavy rain on Perus northern coast.
There are thought to be protests in the area as relatives and citizens call for a faster emergency response.
