Tamale South Member of Parliament Haruna Iddrisu, who has been re-elected in the 2024 general election, has expressed his interest in pursuing a presidential ambition. Speaking on TV3 on Friday, December 13, Iddrisu stated, My eye is on the ball but I dont know about tomorrow.

Earlier, the former Minority Leader commented on the economic challenges faced by President-elect John Dramani Mahama. Iddrisu acknowledged that Mahama has inherited an economy with severe difficulties but expressed confidence in Mahamas ability to overcome these challenges.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Monday, December 9, Iddrisu emphasized the importance of not taking the people for granted. He said, We cannot take the people for granted, Ghanaians say If you fail us we will you tomorrow.

Iddrisus remarks come at a time when Ghana is grappling with significant economic issues, including inflation and currency depreciation. President-elect Mahama has pledged to prioritize fixing the countrys economy once he assumes office, focusing on stabilizing the currency and reducing inflation

He added that President Mahama inherited a difficult economy but he will weather the storm.

Mr  Mahama has also accused the outgoing Akufo-Addo administration of plunging Ghana into deep economic challenges.

To that end, Mr Mahama said that it would be tough for his new administration while he seeks to implement governance reforms.

We should not forget the people of Ghana, Mahama stated passionately. We will implement governance reforms. The journey is not going to be easy because the outgoing government has plunged the nation into an abyss.

Mr Mahama fur ther emphasised the need for unity and collaboration.

The one we serve is Mother Ghana, he said.
