Paris 2024: Kazakhstan wins first medal

Kazakhstan duo, Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev, have won the first medal at the 2024 Olympic Games, claiming bronze in the 10-metre mixed team air rifle event.

Le and Satpayev cruised to victory over Germanys Maximilian Ulbrich and Anna Janssen, outscoring their opponents 17-5 at Chateauroux.

The duo are ranked below Ulbruch and Janssen.

The medal was Kazakhstan’s first in a shooting event since 1996.

The 2024 Olympic Games officially kicked off on Friday night with the opening ceremony.

A number of other events are currently ongoing at different venues.
