Chelsea havent given up on signing Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion despite having multiple bids rejected according to Ben Jacobs.

The Blues are currently on their pre-season tour of America and face Celtic on Saturday having drawn their opening game against Wrexham on Wednesday evening.

The club have already made a number of signings this summer, and are closing in on a deal for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

Chelsea havent given up on Omorodion

The Athletic reported earlier this week that Chelsea hoped to complete two or three more signings before the end of the month, and it appears Jorgensen will be one of those.

Chelsea have been linked with a whole host of names across Europe as they look for a number nine to compete with Nicolas Jackson.

Omorodion is a name that has been linked and the Blues are believed to have had multiple bids rejected for the 20-year-old.

However, Jacobs has reported that the club havent given up on the striker, but it could take €70m to change Atleticos mind.

Chelsea clearly see Omorodion as a talented player, but considering hes not even kicked a ball for Atletico the numbers being mentioned are far too high.

The Spain under-21 international only joined Atletico last summer from Granada, and he spent last season on loan at Alaves where he scored nine goals in 36 appearances in all competitions.

The Blues have already signed teenage striker Marc Guiu from Barcelona and new boss Enzo Maresca is set to assess him and Christopher Nkunku in the number nine position before any decision is taken on whether a new striker is needed.

Chelsea have previously been linked with Jhon Duran, but it appears the Colombian is closing in on a move to West Ham , whilst links to Lilles Jonathan David have gone cold.

Unless Chelsea have a surprise up their sleeve its hard to see who the new striker could be, and it seems theres every chance the club could just stick with what they have.
