Sanwo-Olu, Emmanuel express optimism about Nigeria''s future at convention

Guardian NG  Jul 27, 2024

The wife of Lagos State governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and the wife of former Akwa Ibom State governor, Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel, have expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, urging Nigerians not to give up hope on the nation, but to continue to pray for its leadership and its success.

The duo made the call, last Sunday, at their separate remarks during the 2024 Convention of the Central Women Fellowship of the Lagos Township Superintendency of United Evangelical Church, held at the Surulere Cathedral of the Church in Ojuelegba, Surulere.

Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, who was a special guest of honour, commended organisers of the convention and the theme, Dwell in Christ and Grow in Strength, taken from John 15: 4-9. She said the theme was timely, because fervent prayers are needed in times like this in Nigeria and the world at large.

Re-assuring Lagosians that her husband, Mr. Governor, as he is fondly called, would continue to make life better for all in the state, she urged all and sundry to be law-abiding, hopeful, supportive and continue to imbibe the spirit of tolerance, peaceful co-existence and love for one another.

In her address, president of the Central Women Fellowship, Deaconess Theresa Ekwere, appreciated the duo for honouring the churchs invitation and said it was a clear sign of humility, respect and love for God. She assured that members of the women fellowship in particular, as believers of Christ, would not compromise their faith in the face of the challenges confronting the nation, rather, they shall continue to pray for God’s intervention and contribute their quota to the well being of the nation.
