Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, has said that the state is on cause in meeting its revenue target for 2024 based on its revenue performance.

Speaking at the 2025 budget consultative forum held in Ikeja as part of the five-day events across the five divisions of the state named ‘IBILE’: Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe, Ope said that the state hopes to meet its 2024 Internally General Revenue of N1,251trn and federal allocation of N596,629b by year end.

At the forum, participants that included representatives of residents, traditional rulers, professional bodies, civil society groups, government officials from state to local levels, non-governmental and trade organisations, youths, and people living with disabilities (PLWD), amongst others, spoke on projects within their localities that government should consider in the 2025 budget.

Providing updates on the implementation of the 2024 budget, the commissioner said that Lagos State generates over 76 per cent of its revenues independent of federal allocations while contributing over 18 per cent to the countrys GDP.

Lagos State government provided 23 per cent of the year 2024 budget to its Economic Affairs Sector to cater for infrastructural renewal and development to modernize the city and support its growing population.

The state launched several initiatives and projects to improve the standard of living, build infrastructure, ensure food security, enhance ease of doing business and affordable public transportation, and improve energy supply, the commissioner said.
